Why Clean Matters — Stewardship Starts With the Small Things

I grew up in a single-parent home. My mom worked four jobs just to keep the lights on, and one of them was cleaning houses.

I’d go with her sometimes and help clean. I knew I was helping pay the bills, but more than that, it was how we connected. We didn’t have much, but I watched her pour herself out every job, every space with dignity and care.

Even though money was tight, she never charged the church a dime. She’d clean our local church building and even clean some of the elders’ houses for free. She used to say:

“If I could just be a housekeeper in the house of God, I’d be happy when I get to Heaven.”

That stuck with me. It still does.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t always appreciate it. I took a lot for granted early on. But when I got married and saw my wife’s work ethic, I realized how immature I was. God used that moment - and a lot of others - to start shaping me.

Now I see it.

Cleaning, serving, showing up, it’s not just about work. It’s about stewardship. It’s about becoming a man of integrity. It’s about honoring what you’ve been given.

That’s why I started Steward Clean.

It’s not just a cleaning company. It’s a way to build a legacy.

It’s about helping people live with order and peace, and training up young men who serve with excellence, who take ownership, who show up.

Because if we can be faithful in the little things - wiping a counter, taking out trash, vacuuming a floor - we can be trusted with the big things too.

That’s what I want to teach. That’s the spirit behind this whole thing.

Faithful in the little things.

Always.
